Applications are now being accepted for participation in the European regional workshop on advocacy, communication and UN HLM engagement. The workshop will be organized on December 11-13, 2017, in Minks, Belarus, by the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), TBpeople and the Stop TB Partnership.
Build the capacity of TB community advocates and staff and volunteers of National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, from WHO European region, to engage collectively and strategically in TB and HIV advocacy;
Identify advocacy priorities for TB advocates to pursue nationally, regionally and globally;
Strengthen the network of TB community advocates and their link with National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies;
Hold a community consultation and develop a regional roadmap for civil society and community efforts towards the UN High Level Meeting on TB (HLM), to be held in 2018.
Participant selection criteria
Workshop participation will include approximately twenty TBpeople members, including representatives of affected communities and TB key populations, selected through this call. Other participants will also include staff and volunteers of national Red Cross/Red Crescent societies, representatives of TBEC, Stop TB Partnership staff, and the Global Coalition of TB Activists (GCTA) regional focal point for Europe.
Participants from among TBpeople members will be selected through a competitive process. Where possible, at least one member of TBpeople will be selected from Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Ukraine and Uzbekistan, to ensure partnerships can be established with Red Cross Red Crescent country counterparts.
- good understanding of the mission, vision and objectives of TBpeople
- strong motivation and commitment to do follow up activities at country level
- experience of participation in TBpeople activities
- previous experience of working with national Red Cross/Red Crescent societies
- membership in local, regional and/or global networks and coalitions
The workshop will take place in Russian and English; simultaneous translation will be provided.
All expenses related to participation in the workshop including travel, hotel accommodation, meals and daily allowance will be covered by the organizers.
